Between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Dijon, the village of Gevrey-Chambertin celebrated in 2020 the grand opening of the Halle Chambertin, a new unmissable wine tourism stopover at the center of the Capital of Grands Crus of Burgundy.

Fun and interactive

In the village center, the old Halles built in 1830 invite wine, tourism and nature lovers to discover the riches of the Capital of the Grands Crus of Burgundy through an educational and interactive discovery trail. The Tourist Office welcomes all in this place composed of 15 interactives modules promising an immersion in the history of the territory, its heritage and its vineyard, during an enriching moment.

(Re)discover the patrimonial, historical and natural Gibriaçois heritage, through fun events organized by the Gevrey Nuits Tourist Office and the Halle of Gevrey.

The vineyard

What is a Climat? What’s the difference between a first vintage and a great vintage? What are the works in the vines? Discover the answers during the free visit at the Halle Chambertin.

Through the different modules dedicated to the winegrower’s profession, to the Climats of the Burgundy Vineyards – listed as UNESCO world heritage – and to the village’s wines, the Halle Chambertin gives visitors all the necessary comprehension keys for the discovery of the wine world, the know-hows and the typical traditions of the region.

The Combe Lavaux Jean-Roland National Nature Reserve

The village’s beauty and the quality of its wines owes a lot to the Combe Lavaux National Nature Reserve. From the town, we can see part of the 487 hectares of this preserved site that protects the vineyard and the village from the bad weather. It offers an ideal setting for a green escape, in particular thanks to its discovery trail which is accessible to all and its different hiking routes.

Nature lovers admire its rare fauna and flora, along the numerous trails that crisscross this green lung of the destination.

Before putting on your sneakers, go to the Halle Chambertin for a first approach to this open-sky museum through a scenography of the Combe, but also interpretation sequences and audio recordings that will immerse enthusiasts and curious people in these 100% natural landscapes that are a stone’s throw away from the village center.

The Gallery of Nuggets

The Gallery of Nuggets brings together the historical “figures and treasures” of Gevrey-Chambertin. Wine-growing tools, emblematic professions, objets representative of Gibriaçois traditions… The gallery highlights the riches and traditions of the village and their inseparable links to its international reputation.

A playing card module completes the discovery through the 35 major elements of the local heritage. This site is entirely adapted for families thanks to different sound, digital and video modules. Two game tables have been set up for young ones as well as postcards to color.

A unique project

The Tourist Office located in the Halle opens the doors to this unique site and guides the visitors in their approach of these thematics, and more broadly the destination, by following the Route des Grands Crus.

The Halle aims to be a space of reception, transmission, knowledge and events with the organization of a program of events around wine, heritage and nature.

The operation was carried out transversally by the community services, under the direction of the Vice-President in charge of tourism. The project management was entrusted to the architect firm of Claude CORREIA, from Saulieu. The scenography, museography and the conception of the halle’s modules were carried out by the agency Les Pistoleros. The exhibition was curated by Mr. Oliver Jacquet. Many speakers (the list of thanks appears on the generic panel at the entrance of the Halle) contributed to the provision of content by loans, donations, audio and visual testimonies.
